About
September 11th.
While taking a walk on Carroll street between 8th avenue and the park the other night we came across some signs placed up and down the block announcing an “awesome block party.”
Now I know its been almost nine years since that terrible day and I suppose that if this were somewhere outside of New York—say Winnipeg, Manitoba... September 11th might just seem like the perfect day to have an “awesome block party”—But not here OK. If you want to have a party, pick another day.
Or— at least show some respect for those of us {and I hope there are many}, who want to keep September 11th sacred, and call your get together something less offensive. Look, I don’t want to see September 11th become even one day closer to just another day in September. September 11th is, and must always be kept as, a sacred day of remembrance. Not the date for an awesome block party.
